It's actually very simple, not difficult at all...
The jews were the only people who didn't submit to the romans, they fought them and fought them until the romans expelled them from their land. As a people in exile, they were suspected and hated just for that, then the christians hated them because they said what they thought was the truth: that jesus was a blasphemous jew and an impostor. All through the centuries they were persecuted, massacred, used as scapegoats, the christian churches spread all sort of lies against them, the princes forced them to live only off money lending and finances, thus gathering hatred from the debtors compelled to pay back, a pogrom took care of that and wiped all debts, etc., etc.
The nazi holocaust was the result of church brainwashing over the centuries. 80,000 jews fought for Germany in WW1, 12,000 died in the battlefield (German official records), many won medals for bravery and the Holocaust was the reward they got...
Then we have the tragedy of a people we should admire as freedom lovers, despised and hated for all the wrong reasons.
Oh, humans, how low can we get led by prejudice, ignorance and irrational drives.
not the slightest chance you over simplify or have jumped to erroneous conclusions, of course. This is something well worth understanding in depth, as we humans struggle to leave behind our myriads of prejudices and hatreds. I wonder if we ever will.
Even the most complex problems can be put in simple terms if you are willing to grasp the essential and leave out the minor details. And if I went wrong in anything, just point it out and show why.
I grew up in a hood with plenty of jews and by studying them I came to respect them. You can learn a lot from them, for one, they respect money, not like us who often squander it. They can't be softies or they wouldn't have survived countless persecutions, but on the whole, they were quite nice people, with the odd bad apple like in any other group.
